Drowning in Information
I'm tired. I've been tired a lot lately.
I rub the sleep out of my eyes, and yawn. I sit here, writing this, and I'm trying to find topics. I could talk about the work I should be doing, and how much is on my plate, but that's not important to me. I can organize things, prioritize, grind away at the chores, but that's not it. That all just happens. It's the things that I learn that interest me, and give me hope, as I subject myself to the monotone day.
Magic
I almost decided to just post this as is, but I feel it deserves a little bit of explanation first. I intend to start posting writing on a semi-regular basis again, but I don't even think I have time for a page or two of actual content, and I damned well don't have time to edit it, but I want to force myself to put it out.
In an ideal world, I will do this on a daily basis, and probably put up a few fragments of whatever is going through my head at the time. This is usually fiction that I feel I need to dump. Vignettes, if you will. Let's see where it goes.
A Canvas to Paint On
I'm very interested in web technologies and game theory, so the idea of the HTML canvas tag is VERY intriguing. I haven't done very much with Java or JavaScript, besides some simple form validation type stuff, so I'm not as versed with front-end code as I'd like to be. HTML 5 and the canvas seems like a good place to get interested, though. Of course, MS is lagging behind as usual in implementing it, and as usual, appear to come running to the band wagon with the greatest features they can implement with their direct access to underlying OS features, like hardware acceleration.
Om Nom Nom
So I'm busy putting together the theme for this site currently, as I'm anxiously awaiting a call for a possible job interview. It's that whole sitting on pins and needles thing. Just finished the second to last Harry Dresden novel as well. I love that guy. He really does the new cowboy thing justice, plus, who doesn't love a story set in your hometown?
History
So I'm going through all my old art assets, and I've got stuff from the last 5 years or so floating around on here. I'm trying to be choosy about what looks decent enough to go up here, to show what kind of stuff I work on.
I had a bunch of files from years prior to that, the 1996-2004 period, when I was really learning 3D modelling and 2D art. A lot of the stuff from that period isn't very well finished, and it was more a... seed, I think? I can see now looking at it why I ended up where I am.
Focus
Oh no.
It's a blank page. I'm horrified.
Seriously, a blank page is the worst thing in the world for a creative person. There's no restrictions, no rules. You could put literally ANYTHING there. How do I decide? Maybe this? No, that won't do.
So, time to bring out the lens. Bring out the 35mm, pan out, zoom in. Let's get some focus.
Under (Constant) Construction
I have decided to construct this site in situ. I did the first pass on the theming behind the scenes, but have since been making adjustments and changes to the site on this production version. This allows me to test it better, and frankly, I don't mind if you see some minor bugs, as long as they don't last long.
I should have most of this ironed out in a couple of weeks here.
If you notice a bug that sticks around for more than a couple of days, feel free to notify me. I'll put up contact information shortly as well.
